Valentino Rossi from 13th to 9th on Jerez GP

Starting from 13th position on Jerez GP, Valentino Rossi passed the finish line on 9th. The Italian rider told that it was a positive race and might help Ducati and him on the next race Estoril. Rossi was use new bridgestone tyres on front, with hard specification, and medium on rear.

Valentino Rossi
“The positive thing from today’s race is that I think it might help us to do a bit better in the coming events, starting next week in Portugal. Today we used a setup that’s new for us, and it gave some positive signs. First we tried some solutions to give me a feeling similar to what I’ve had in the past, but it doesn’t work. Today’s setting was very similar to what Nicky has used for a while, though not exactly the same. I must get used to riding the bike a bit differently than I’m used to, and today that caused me to lose some ground in the early laps because I was basically starting blind. I wasn’t going bad once I found my rhythm, in the sense that I was matching the times of those who were fighting for sixth place, and I was able to push until the end, doing a 1:41.0 on the penultimate lap. This helps me to be a little more optimistic as I look ahead to the next races because if I’m able to ride a bit better, it could be a place for us to start from. In fact, we’ll use this setting when we start on Friday. Naturally, we’ll have to keep working, be more effective in qualifying so that we can start further forward, and improve acceleration and a number of other things, which we’ve already discussed at Ducati as we try, together, to improve the GP12.”

Rossi may be Better on Rain

Valentino Rossi box

Valentino Rossi got a bad result on Jerez qualyfing session. He will start from 13th place on Sunday race.

Rossi told that the main problem is on cornering. The GP12 can't reach maximum lean angle after the braking. This situation will make Rossi lost several seconds.

Comparing to Nicky Hayden, Rossi told that both of them have a different riding style, and it's difficult to use Hayden bike's setup. Damp track on Jerez was not good for Rossi. But the GP12 maybe can do better on rain.

Ducati Make Valentino Rossi Confuse

Valentino Rossi Losail 2012

Valentino Rossi is about 1.5 year with Ducati, but he still can get his best performance on track. An interview from Enrico Borghi (Solo Moto Magazine) with Valentino Rossi told that the main problem for Rossi isn't the changes of cylinder capacity. One of the problem is the tyres.

I rode many bikes of all classes and of different brands, but more or less have always driven the same way. My style has evolved itself, but has always been essentially the same. When I tried the Yamaha in 2004, I found a bike that was not so different from the Honda was just slow, or it was a little worse. We frame things better and some worse, but after all the bikes were not that different. Now, however, I can not ride this bike, which is very different.
The tires from Bridgestone have no grip at maximum lean angle, as if they had the tires I have used until the end of 2008. With the single tire rule the tires have changed: when you're so inclined, I say a little less. This is, in my opinion, the biggest technical difference in recent years. It is clear that the bikes were piloted in a different way, entering curve, stop the bike, lift and speed, the curves pointing instead to round
800 or 1000, nothing changes. And far from the electronic influences both. The big difference technique is that the tires when you're really lying, and that held you before you let the bike turn more naturally: at maximum lean you began to accelerate. Now, however, is much more important to try to straighten the bike in the center of the curve, and you do it with gas, to exploit to the maximum acceleration after opening butt before.
